First of all, if you are looking for a bottle of wine and you don’t know exactly what you want, the guy at the front here (aaah I forgot his name!) is one of the most knowledgable people on wine I have ever met. And when I say he’s knowledgable, don’t expect him to take you around and start throwing out obscure oenophile words and descriptions about asparagus and leather on the nose that are difficult to relate to. He’s passionate about each and every wine in his shop and he’s going to speak to you about the SOUL of that wine. The experience buying a bottle of wine here is a back and forth, down to earth conversation unlike in any other wine shop I’ve ever been in.
If you’re not necessarily looking to buy a bottle, but love wine, I can’t recommend the 20 for $20 wine tastings highly enough. They hold these events every week on Monday and Thursday, and each one has a different set of 20 diverse wines, ranging from bubbles to whites to reds, all of which you taste for the low low price of $20! The event is so great for learning about wine, trying more wines than you would usually try in a month all over the course of one night, and the atmosphere is incredibly friendly, casual, and fun! The young guy behind the bar pouring the wines is an especially fun guy.
If you’re not already a wine person, it’s worth it to become one just to become a regular at Wine Expo!!!
