Saurus Patagonia Select Pinot Noir 2005, Neuquen Argentina

This wine comes from the San Patricio del Chañar Valley at the 39th parallel in Patagonia, once a playground for mega-fauna including some of the largest dinosaurs ever to walk the earth. In the excavation to build the bodega, bones of Flintstonian proportions dating back 75 million years were unearthed, inspiring the name of this wonderfully balanced and food friendly wine. This is from the more savory, meaty side of the Pinot spectrum and a steal at seven years of age and well under $30.
